During the two-day workshop, the students will study an introduction to pottery as a form of art, types of clay and different ceramic forms, the basics of forming and shaping clay, decoration of ceramic pieces, how to make 'functional art', such as vases, cups, and bowls, learn about balance and proportion, wall thickness correction, surface decoration techniques, and new firing options.
- Together with the teacher, the students will build forms, which they will then leave to dry.
- The pieces will be fired in 4-6 days, after which the students can go back and paint the shapes with underglaze colors.
- The final stage will involve firing the pieces again with glazes after they have been painted.
