Wine harvest and dinner in Kvareli

Wine harvest in Georgia is a big thing - consider it to be one of the most special times of the year. Nowhere is it as rich and astonishing as in Kakheti. So we will take you to Kvareli where family-run winery awaits us. Winery has a beautiful house in a colorful, flowery garden, comfy house and a 3 generations old wine cellar.

Have a little tour around the winery, you'll find out how the family makes wine. Then we will take you in the vineyard that's planted at the foothills of the Caucasus mountains. We'll pick grapes together and tell you all about the winemaking traditions. We'll return in the cellar with grape-filled baskets and squeeze them.

After this little work we will taste delicious wine, that you will pour directly from the Qvevri (Georgian clay vessel for storing and fermenting wine). You can also taste standard and aromatized Chacha. Cellar's yard is filled with fruit trees and flowers. You can find hammocks here and rest in them, watching at the Caucasus mountains while the dinner is being made.

Dinner (feast led by the toastmaster - tamada) will be traditional and you will taste many local dishes including Mtsvadi (BBQ that you can also make by yourself), Khashlama, Khachapuri, Chakhokhbili, many sorts of salads, traditional sauces. If you'll be interested with the receipts the host will share them with you with a pleasure. On the table you'll find Rkatsiteli and Saperavi wines along with the home-made kompot.
