During this 9-hour guided day trip from Tbilisi, you'll explore significant sites steeped in Georgian culture and history.
The Zhinvali Dam: Hydroelectric dam in Zhinvali, Georgia, is nestled in the breathtaking Caucasus Mountains. Despite its man-made origins, the reservoir seamlessly blends with the natural surroundings, enchanting visitors with its turquoise waters.
Ananuri: Fortress on the Aragvi River's foreland, lies not far from Zhinvali reservoir, approximately 70 km from Tbilisi. Originally built by the Dukes of Aragvi in the 13th century, it's now a UNESCO Tentative List site. The fortress comprises two fortifications connected by a crenelated curtain wall.
Our journey includes a stop at Gudauri, a ski resort on the south-facing plateau of the Greater Caucasus Mountain Range in Georgia. Positioned in the Stepantsminda District, along the Georgian Military Highway near the Cross Pass, the resort sits at an elevation of 2,200 meters above sea level. With a ski-able area that maximizes sun exposure, Gudauri offers top-quality skiing opportunities. The slopes are above the tree line, ideal for free-riders, and are generally considered safe from avalanches. The ski season lasts from December to April.
Another highlight is the Monument or Treaty of Georgievsk Monument erected in 1983 to commemorate the bicentennial of the Treaty of Georgievsk and the enduring friendship between Georgia and Soviet Russia. Located on the Georgian Military Highway between Gudauri and the Jvari pass, the monument is a prominent round stone and concrete structure overlooking the Devil's Valley in the Caucasus Mountains.
