When people think of the wine they immediately recon Kakheti region. Although winemaking traditions extend across the whole country one of the prominent landmarks of it is Imereti and we are most delighted to take you there.
The route is as off the beaten track as worthy of exploring.
Firstly we want to show you Mghvimevi Monastery which resembles a fairytale castle, standing atop a high cliff in the Kvirila River Valley with its building carved into the cliff, paths jutting out over the world below, and impressive ornamentation.
Next, we will take you to the Vani Archeological Museum. The material preserved in the Vani Museum dates back to 800 BCE-100 CE. Unique samples of gold, silver, bronze wares, numismatics, and more are kept here.
After you get acquainted with the region and sense its spirit you will visit two wineries, each unique in its own way. Both located in green villages, surrounded by vast vineyards, mountains, and forests, they'll show you hospitality, culinary, and winemaking at its best.
Making this alternative Wine Route, you will be rewarded with a special, personal experience which becomes more and more rare in the popular wine destinations and you'll never forget it.
